Snow Ghosts

First of all guys I gotta say: its a new year and you better be happy! Or (no, that "or" is not ETA) wait, happy new year.

Nightmares eh Shnic? I think you must be dreading ...something...

So me. Adventures in the west. James, I'm so excited you went skiing!! I hit the slopes once. To be honest, I didn't have much confidence at the start since its been so long. But hey, everything kicked in alright and then it was fantastic. I have to make sure to do some spring skiing.

Today I went cross country skiing. Whole new experience. Basically winter hiking or should I say, sliding. I'll give you an image: my dad (with skiis and boots from the 70's, he even had bamboo ski poles!) and me, with my new spiffed up gear (as David would say: I had some killer boots). I'm flopping all over the place, (that's what it felt like at least), my skiis making this smacking noise and my ski poles jabbing to any place they could grip and my dad happily sliding ahead. At one point we just sat in the middle of the forest, the trees were caked in huge mounds of perfect untainted snow (hence my title: snow ghosts). The silence was incredible. Sipping hot tea and eating wraps.

On the way back to cow town we saw people hiking up this HUGE hill, most likely with snowshoes, and then sledding to the bottom. They got some wicked speed. (eh? eh? anyone, anyone? *wink wink*)

Yesterday, for new years. Ha. Was invited to Martin's sister's new years bash. Black and white party. Found out when I got there that everyone was french. That made it interesting...and loud (the french are very loud apparently, I guess they feel they need to be heard). Alexia found a bf straight off the bat. Yes, she is 6 years old and yes he must have been 17 (and from France, oolala). Somehow I don't think its going to work out. Wine bottles and champagne were popping, there was dancing and games. But, I think I would have preferred hanging out with you guys though.

So, I don't want to write about my entire two weeks. I'll save my breath. But looks like I'll be seeing you folk soon enough. Are you ready..?

first day back

last night, i had a nightmare about going back to sbs and starting the new testament.
interestingly, steph had an sbs nightmare too.

but this one is mine
basically, we had a full day lecture on monday, first day back. For some reason,we were having lectures at my elementary school. but i didnt know who our lecturer was, nor what book he was teaching, and suddenly there were 20 new students. during lectures, i knew i hadnt done out loud reading, PT, or colour coding, so i freaked out, and i learned that i didnt finish my creative app for a book from this last semester, but i didnt know which one it was (later someone told me it was for jude)
anyways, i was so stressed out in my dream. I only hope that this will not happen on monday.

Tim and James in your nation's capital!

James here, representing Tim as well. We've had an awesome trip so far!
First we drove with Trent to Saskatoon and stayed two nights with a family he knew who took us in like we were their children. They did have one child there, a three year old girl who adopted Tim as her best friend.

Then, we went to Trent's church and found out Trent is actually a celebrity in Saskatoon and must be on TV a lot since EVERYONE knows him. Finally we had a smooth flight from Saskatoon to Ottawa.

Today (Christmas Eve) we had an awesome day!
First, we woke up super earlier (It was actually about 7:30) than we've been waking up (referring more to me, James, which I blame on the Jet-lag), and went skiing! Tim showed me around the slopes as it was my first time skiing and I had a blast!

All of Tim's big family was there, except for his mother who was single-handedly cooking our Christmas dinner (which was a wild turkey, shot by Tim's hunting brother Nathan). The food was ready just in enough time for me to take a nice nap as I was thoroughly exhausted from using every muscle in my legs for hours. (So to summarize, I skied all day, took a nap, then ate Christmas dinner... Essentially it was fantastic! [I said that thinking of Amy and Nic Nic]).

After dinner we opened presents. I say "we" because Tim's family got me a few things. It was pretty awesome. Then we just hung out for a while! All in all, 'twas a beautiful day.

God Bless ya'll.

Peace!
James and Timmy

Just another day

Random extended family gathering-met a 60 year old 280 millionionare, so he claimed.
I should have told him i was a prime charity case.
ah well.

oh yes, a story

so i reckon you remember that i went home to manitoba with nathan.
So,
at 3 am in the morning, we were 1 hour 45 min from crystal city with the gas tank in the red for empty. Nathan drove down a road he was not certain was right for about 15 minutes, and eventually, we made it to a town called kilarney, about 35 min from crystal city. by now the tank was not looking good at all, and we were only driving 80k so we were not burning gas. We went to 2 card lock gas pumps, and nothing would take a credit card, so we went to the convenience gas station and nathan was joking about getting arrested so we could have a place to stay until morning when everything would open. Well, as we were checking out the gas pumps at 330 AM a cop did pull over, and said he would come with us to one of the cardlock pumps cause he had a co-op card that would get it working. Well, OF COURSE the key pad didnt work, and the cop said he had just used it 5 minutes ago. By this time i was laughing hysterically because it was one dissapointment after another(and i was exhausted). So I decided we should just drive until we ran out of gas-by God's grace and alot of my laughter and singing to the radio, we made it to crystal city on empty at 4 AM. went to bed at 5am. Just another ywam adventure.
Yes, Amy was right, i am an over communicator....and i dont have facebook.
So, i reckon this can be our lounge, since we don't get out of our rooms much anyways.
If it doesn't get used, i will be slightly discouraged, but will quickly get over it because i'm like that.
anyways, i would like to hear about presents, family, food, relaxing over christmas.
and remember to sign your name at the end.
